Let's have a blast! :)
As a term for describing me putting on music in Milongas I prefer “Musicalizador” than “DJ”, since I don’t mix music.
Like every Musicalizador, my main concern is to match Tango Dancers’ needs, whatever they are. On the dance floor, and just there :-) Whether they need to warm up, to walk, to jump around, to rock, to cuddle, to relax, to chill out and so on. And like every Musicalizador, whether he/she likes it or not, I would say I have a profile. Most of all I like lively, joyful and powerful music. My aim is to see people smiling, enjoying and having a blast.
Tango music needs to be danceable and interesting to dance. It sounds banal, so banal and so much taken for granted that sometimes it’s also forgotten as concept. In my opinion, most of this kind of Tango music (and not all of it) we find in the so-called “Época de Oro”. A set needs to have a structure and needs to fit together. At the same time music needs to vary during the night, so it never gets boring and never repeats itself.
I’m an active Musicalizador in Berlin, putting on music regularly in some of the main Milongas of the city, as well as abroad in Festivals and Marathons. I am also co-organizer of two of the Milongas of Berlin, Max & Moritz (https://www.facebook.com/groups/125630124301922/) and Loca (https://www.facebook.com/groups/165831713620997/).
