There are many reasons why we are hiding most of the data behind a “user only” wall.
Here are a two of them:
- We respect privacy. This also includes the privacy of DJs who may not be fully professional. But if someone outside of the tango world googles them, they won’t get all the details unless they register. This already blocks all those person-search-engines who aggregate everything they can find about people.
- We don’t like “scrapers”. With that we mean those web sites who scrape the Internet to take all published events, and publish them in their own database. Examples of these are: https://allevents.in, and other bot-pages like them. No tango dancer would search there anyhow, but once the data is stolen, it also cannot be changed easily anymore.
- And if you combine the two – trouble!
