Know the music, watch the floor!
I loved tango music from the first moment. After more than twenty years, I am still discovering new things; getting to know the music never ends - just like really getting to know a person.
As a DJ I arrive with a blank sheet of paper and try to feel the atmosphere of the occasion, and to build trust and connection with the dancers. I play music in tandas with cortinas, typically (but not always) in this cycle: T4 / T4 / V4 / T4 / T4 / M3.
I started DJing festivals overseas in 2008 (5th International Istanbul Tango Festival and 9th Stockholm Tango Festival) and have DJd in I think 14 countries. Todotango asked me to write some articles on DJing and you can see these on their site in English and Spanish.
